Beyond the $7,300 sticker price, that thing has a lot of cool features. Like a 390 lb dry weight, Independent rear suspension offering over 10 inches of ground clearance, a 510 cc KTM motor, and a hydralic clutch to name a few.

I owned a few polarises in the past (ie the Magnum name), but was never impressed with their quality or engineering skills. Seems they are going to great lengths to improve that.

There are going to be two great new trail machines on the market.....the KFX450 and this new 525 Outlaw. Both machines sport a killer 4 stroke, liquid cooled engine, w/ reverse and electric start. The KFX450 does have one more bonus though....fuel injection. I'll take one of each! bsmile.gif

There's 1 caveat though - The 510 is a proven motor, at least in its MX counterpart, the Kawi 450 nearly killed Bubba Stewart @ Southwick this year. I'd wait for 08' if I was thinking of buying the Kawi, and go with the Polaris, it looks to be one sick package as a woods machine.

Also, looks like they beefed up the KTM tranny and WOW - added reverse. headbang.gif
I cant believe this quad comes in @ just under 400lbs.. thats amazing!

It went on the Weight Watchers program. bsmile.gif What I don't get is how they somehow managed to shave 40 lbs of that beast!

Easy, they got rid of the Fuji motor and put in the KTM motor. That's why the Predator and Outlaw both have been heavy. The Fuji motor is a strong runner, but weighs as if it's made of cast iron and not aluminum.

Cant wait to see someone rip that motor out and push it into an MX frame...

PS: Is this the 06' KTM Racer they were bragging about a few months back? Doesnt look like it... Hopefully there's more to come?

From what I can tell over on my KTM bike site that I go to, KTM is still supposed to bring out a quad of their own to sell at KTM dealerships. 1 more thing to know about the the KTM RFS motor is that it still has the older style, easy to adjust valvetrain instead of the shims under bucket setup that the Japanese 450s use.

Going to revive a dead post for you guys.... Been checking this out pretty hard lately and talked to a dealer that has 2 coming in in two weeks (that is what he said anyway). I may jump on one of these since my body can't take as much abuse anymore (hopefully this cuts down on it a bit). Word is, they will be pretty damn fast in stock trim and actually handle really well. We will see!!

Looks pretty good. Finnaly a lighter polaris. Now that motor in a 450r or a ltz would be sick...

Yeah, I sold the Z400 about a year and a half ago and now just lurk for the most part. I am seriously looking into the Outlaw 525 and stopped in at Bair's Polaris (where John Gallager Sr. races out of) to check out the Outlaw. It was really comfortable and fit me really well. When the first 525 shows up, I am going to go check it out (no deposits on it yet so I may have to go down early to put the deposit on it). Who knows, I am not a winter rider so I am not really looking to get anything until at least March or April.... Oh, by the way, I am still sporting the ATVSTORE.COM sticker on the Grand Cherokee!

That thing will be FREAKING awesome in the snow — come on, independant suspension on a sport quad with that engine!!! I love winter riding, even got a set of 22"ers just for the snow. thumbsup.gif

I have been reading up on this quad a little more and it looks like it is a great concept but falls short on quality and reliability. MRE2U84, what do you think of yours, or have you gotten it yet? I have just heard that the rear sprokets keep breaking and the fit and finish have a lot left to be desired. I have not seen one in person but am just relaying some stuff I read on the internet. So dont think im bashing. Im just trying to get more info.

Mixing Standard and Metric nutz and boltz.. who came up with that brilliant idea! pissed.gif

Gotta give it to the Japanese companies, you can damn near take em down to the ground with a set of 8-17mm sockets. thumbs3.gif (Although it wasn't always that simple).

...I'm still itching to Rip one of these things through a wide open field though!!! gun2.gif

Sorry guys, I never saw a post to this thread or I would have answered. As far as fit and finish, I think it looks pretty good. So far, every bolt I have taken out (to put aftermarket stuff on) has at least been loc-tite'd on. From what I hear, that was a big problem on the 06 models of the 500.... Yeah, they still do have the mixed bag of nuts, bolt, and fasteners. So far, both metric and standard as well as allen and torx.... It doesn't matter because I have a couple kits I always use and it has all 4 in it. As far as riding it, when I got it the weather was 5 below and then it turned into 20 inches of snow. As of now, I am in FL for the week (visiting dear old mom and seeing the Indians at spring training) so I am actually still waiting to break it in. I have a little time on it, maybe 15 minutes, and I can already tell you that my Z400 couldn't hold a candle to the torque and speed of this thing! The ride is nice, although different, and will take a little getting used to. I picked up my Hauler paddles already and I'm really itching to hit the dunes on the thing! Maybe if there is another Turkey Drunken ride this year, we can all meet up again!!
